Opened December 2009! Mt Hakuba Backpackers is the best located backpackers in Hakuba. From our hostel there are free shuttle buses to and from the major ski areas listed on the map below. Check out the shuttle bus timetables. We are centrally located in the Echoland region of Hakuba, a one minute walk from the closest convenience store, a couple of minutes walk will take you to numerous bars and restaurants, and 5 minutes walk will find you at the closest onsen (hot spring).
In addition to our great location, the hostel is fully equipped with an inhouse bar (separated from the sleeping areas),restaurant,guest laundry,guest kitchen, an internet cafe (with free wireless) and a free book exchange. The bar has a daily happy hour, cozy sofas and a billiard table. You can buy cheap but filling meals at the hostel restaurant.
We take pride in keeping the hostel clean and well maintained. You will rarely have to wait for a shower, and our toilets are the high tech Japanese warmlet type, very cozy in Winter. The hostel also has a drying area for gear. At our hostel you can also rent mountain bikes. We are open every day of the year, and we encourage people to come during the non-winter months to check out the wild beauty of Hakuba.
